Building the Skills to Overcome Obstacles
When I started at Meredith, I was planning to major in biology. Since middle school, I thought pursuing a career in STEM was what I needed to do. During my first year at Meredith, however, I was struggling to grasp the course material and slowly started to realize I was unfulfilled in studying biology.
Maximizing Experiential Learning Opportunities
With support from Meredith faculty and staff, Emma Bailey made the most of experiential learning opportunities including study abroad and an impressive internship. A business administration major, she worked as a social media marketing intern at Liberare, an adaptive clothing brand with a global presence. Along the way, she also established a blog focused on disability lifestyle and travel.
The Power of Strong Connections
The faculty and staff are super welcoming and really passionate about us getting hands-on experience. I’ve definitely made a lot of connections with them through our classes and since they’re really small class sizes, I get to know the faculty really well.
Fostering Strengths-Based Work Environments
Not everyone gets to choose what they do on purpose. Sometimes it’s just based on what’s available and what you’re qualified to do. I think we’re better people when we get to do something that is uniquely interesting to us.
