In 2018, after a six-year jaunt across the Pacific Ocean and back on their sailboat, Jennifer Hoeppner Lang and her family returned to Wilmington, N.C., to be closer to the family they had missed during their absence. A year after returning, Lang acquired her captain’s license and began a yacht delivery business, Captain Jen LLC. Currently, she holds a Master 100 GT license and mostly moves 40-50 foot sailing catamarans (either for owners or with new owners) up and down the U.S. East Coast. She also captains trips to and from the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Europe. Occasionally, Lang will captain destination sailboat charters and other jobs requiring a licensed captain. Each time she’s at sea, Lang says to herself, “I love my office!”
