Newly retired and newly married, Tudy Moncure Eliasson and her husband are living on the Rappahannock River in King George, Va.

Kiki Massenburg Farish retired from teaching drawing at Meredith in the spring of 2021. Farish is now renovating her father’s ancestral home outside of Wake Forest, N.C, and she hopes the renovation will be a source of inspiration for new artwork. She and her husband moved in November of last year.

Deanna Frazier Kaplan is serving as the chair of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Board of Education.

Susan Kellum has been involved in the development of the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Wilson, N.C. for the last 12 years. Kellum first began as a volunteer and then as the City of Wilson downtown marketing and communications coordinator. The unique, kinetic sculptures created by outsider artist Vollis Simpson serve as an arts-driven economic catalyst for the redevelopment of Historic Downtown Wilson, N.C. Kellum’s son is a deputy sheriff in Irvine, Calif., and is recently engaged to be married. Her daughter, Caroline Levin, ’17, also a Meredith alumna, works in fashion merchandising in New York City. Kellum is hopeful to be traveling more with her significant other shortly.

Peggy Suzanne Hill Plisko has had a busy year. In October 2021, Plisko retired following 16 years as the church secretary at Saint James United Methodist Church in Newport, N.C. Retiring because of health concerns, Plisko will remain busy as she and her husband remodel a 1920s home to be their final nesting place. She will also continue to serve as the coordinator for the Newport Meals on Wheels program and enjoy time with her six grandchildren.

Pamela Ingram Robinson and her husband have enjoyed traveling in an RV. Robinson stays busy, enjoying yard work, crocheting baby blankets, and embroidery. All of her children are now grown, married, and employed.

Courtney Atkins Swanson is retiring after 36 years as a school counselor in Caldwell County School System. She will miss her students but is looking forward to volunteering and working with a nonprofit.

After teaching for over 30 years, Bonnie Hines Wagstaff retired in 2012 and has been enjoying life. Her children have married and she has six grandchildren. They often vacation in Oak Island, N.C.

After teaching mathematics for over 37 years at high school, community college, and college levels, Martha Hollowell Welch retired from Wayne Community College in January 2022. Welch is now the primary caregiver for her sweet granddaughter. She knows she was blessed to have had a wonderful teaching career and is now overjoyed to have the opportunity to be such an important part of her granddaughter’s life.
