After earning a master’s degree and sustaining a National Board Certification for 20 years, Debra Nobles Connor has finally retired. After teaching middle school for 40 years, retirement sure is a joy. Connor has remodeled her home, adding a deck, porch, and carport. These renovated spaces provide plenty of places to relax. Connor’s son is getting married in October, keeping them all busy with wedding plans. Her boyfriend bought a condo in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., where they enjoy the sea and salt air.

Michelle Rich Goode and her husband were recently honored by Ducks Unlimited Inc., a nonprofit focused on wetlands conservation, for their dedication and combined 75 years of volunteer service. They attended a tribute dinner held recently at The Umstead Hotel in Cary, N.C., to celebrate their contributions to North Carolina and Region 7.

Class agents Carolyn Howard Carter, Susan Lassiter Lampley, and Susan Herring are meeting regularly in preparation for the 50th Reunion scheduled for May 2023. How can it be that 50 years have passed? They are having fun remembering classmates, special times their class shared, and brainstorming ideas for a memorable reunion. Herring and other class agents encourage everyone to attend the 50th reunion. She hopes to see everyone at the upcoming reunion.

Between managing her farm, riding horses almost every day, foxhunting twice a week, and serving on five different boards, Marsha McCutchen Hewitt stays plenty busy. Hewitt loves visitors and welcomes friends to visit at any time. Weekends are usually committed to a project. She enjoys volunteering at the homeless shelter, trail rides, horse shows or races, workdays at the park, and church.

After being retired from teaching French and Spanish for 14 years, Donna Salem Naeser has reopened her piano studio. Her students have been preparing for their recital. During her spare time, Naeser sings with the Cardinal Singers directed by Elizabeth Triplett Beam. Naeser and her husband love to travel, especially cruising. They will soon enjoy their 24th cruise in September to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary.
